Double the rest of the ingredients

add sugar to offset the salt, but a small amount in a bowl and add a small amount to test it first.

Good Question. I have that problem a couple of times. to offset something that is too salty, try to gradually add 1/2 c water to the stew and mix. Bring to a simmer and taste. if it is still too salty, add another cup and repeat until you get the right consistency. this should eliminate some of the salt from the soy sauce that makes it salty.

I've heard that bread off setts the taste

Place three bread slices in the stew,,, for just a couple of minutes or so... the fish them out. The bread will absorb a lot of the soy.

What I do is drain some of the juice and add water again. I bring to a simmer, taste, and add more seasoning if necessary, and let simmer a bit more. If you have potato in the stew, I would remove them so that they don't fall apart. This always works for me.

1 cup of liquid (stock or water), use 2 tablespoons of soya sauce (dark or light). Do not add salt to the stew.

C C is right....you could add this and remove that...but a raw potato is the simplest way to save your stew
