I'm like you. I sometimes think cake can be too dry or too sweet with the sugary frosting getting too sticky or crusty. It really fills you up, and the crumbs fall all over the place.

I like going to Baskin Robbins and getting one of their ice cream cakes as an alternative. Here is their web page on ice cream cakes:

Here is their store locator:

There are also pudding cakes which have moisture built in. Here are some recipes for pudding cakes in various flavors:

Check out the Jello Dessert Recipe page for cake ideas:

Also consider things like Missippi Mud Pie/ Cake:

...or Banana Cream Pie with lots of meringe on top as an alternative.

If you stick with traditional cake, German Chocolate Cake or Chocolate/Strawberry Cheese Cake are my favorites.

I'm hungry already. Hey, save a piece for me! (smiles). And Happy Birthday to you!

okay then get healthy cake usually pumpkin, or best of all carrot cake

ummm... for me chocolate cake is the best!

~i too hate cakes. well not all of them, but the traditional cake that you get on your birthday...yuck!!!!
my girlfriend got me a tiramisu cake this year....which i enjoyed way more than the other kinds.
one year i asked for a pecan pie instead, and once someone got me canolli's instead.~

get something you will eat.. cheese cake... pie... fruit pie... fruit platter.... that way your guests arnt feeling bad that your not eating your own piece of celebration of your birthday.

Ice-cream cake, if you like ice-cream then its ok. You can get some from dairy queen. You can decorate with mnms and stuff

a sponge cake with royal icing, everyone loves it, apart from you, obviously ;P

U CANT go wrong with an ice cream cake.
Ice cream = ppls fav dessert [all the ppl i know]

so yea u cant go wrong??

i am not a big fan of cake neither but if i ever ate some cake i would eat vanilla chocalate is not tasty at all to me neither is fruit cake it is sooo nasty ne ver get fruit cake

Why get a cake then? Why not get what you like, such as a pie, or some other kind of dessert you do like. I dont think we have to confine ourselves to cake on a birthday. My grandson is turning 1 in a couple weeks and we just found out he loves sweet potato pie (which Ive never had and to me it sounds gross), so his mother is going to make him that cuz thats what he loves.

chocolate

chocolate cake with a mix of strawberry and vanilla pudding in the middle with whipped-cream and a few dozen Cherry's on top

Light lemon cakes with fresh cream & strawberries.

You and your other guests should have a cookie decorating,( birthday theme), party. you can get plain sugar cookies or make your own to decorate and share The last year of memories on the cookies. it was a great party on my G-ma's 97th B-Day party. we all shared her life. oh ,and make sure you serve milk to help those sugar highs!

Happy Birthday! Why not get something that you will eat as well as having your guests enjoy it - something like a cheesecake, your favorite pie, pound cake with fresh fruit or maybe even brownies - just get something that you will like too.

one shaped like the twins(boobs) ha ha jus jokin....idk
