scalloped potatoes with three cheeses
3/4 cup (packed) grated extra-sharp cheddar cheese (about 4 ounces)
3/4 cup crumbled Danish blue cheese (about 4 ounces)
1/3 cup (packed) freshly grated Parmesan (about 1 1/4 ounces)
4 pounds russet potatoes, peeled, cut into 1/4-inch-thick rounds
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
3 tablespoons all purpose flour
4 tablespoons (§ stick) butter
3 cups whole milk
Preparation
Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly butter 13x9x2-inch glass baking dish. Mix cheddar cheese, blue cheese and Parmesan in small bowl.
Arrange half of potatoes in prepared baking dish, overlapping slightly. Sprinkle with teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Sprinkle onion over, then flour. Dot with 2 tablespoons butter. Sprinkle half of cheese mixture over. Top with remaining potatoes, 3/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper and 2 tablespoons butter. Reserve remaining cheese.
Bring milk to simmer in medium saucepan. Pour milk over potatoes (milk will not cover potatoes completely). Cover baking dish tightly with foil. Bake 45 minutes. Uncover dish (liquids in dish may look curdled); sprinkle potatoes with reserved cheese mixture. Bake uncovered until potatoes are tender and cheese is deep golden brown, about 45 minutes longer. (Can be prepared 2 hours ahead. Let stand at room temperature. Cover and rewarm in 375°F oven about 20 minutes.) Remove from oven; let stand 15 minutes before serving.

baked ham
8- to 10-lb. boneless cooked ham
1 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup yellow mustard
1 tsp. ground cloves
2 cups pineapple juice
1 8-oz. bottle of cola
1 can cherry pie filling
Pineapple slices
Maraschino cherries
Preparation
Remove all wrappings from ham — any strings or paper also. Stick ham several times with metal skewer or long fork. This is to let the sauce penetrate the ham. Place ham in a deep roasting pan.
Mix sugar, mustard, and cloves together. Rub over entire ham. Pour juice and cola in pan around ham. Place in oven and bake for 35 minutes at 350°F. Baste ham with juice. With a pastry brush, brush pie filling over ham. Let cook for 10 minutes. Repeat the basting until all the pie filling is used. Raise oven temperature to 375°F and let glaze cook well. Garnish baked ham with pineapple slices and Maraschino cherries.

I cannot imagine why you would have cookies for your Christmas dinner! It is usually things you don't have everyday. But I never cease to be amazed at some of your American customs(I am Australian). We have a turkey, chicken & pork roasts, with roast potatoes & pumpkin, usually a vegetable gratin of cauliflower, brocoli & carrot, peas & green beans, stuffing & lots of gravy.A plate of cold ham is also put on the table as some like a slice with their roast. For desert either the traditional plum pudding, or fruit salad with icecream. Our glossy magazines always have great Christmas recipes at this time every year, so you could look at your own mags to see if they do.
This is a matter of opinion. Everyone thinks theirs is the best. Personally, we like canned ham with brown sugar and pineapple juice glaze, pineapple rings with maraschino cherries, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, hot rolls. For dessert, different pies....custard, chocolate pudding pie, and apple pie. I might also make stuffing as we all like that even without a turkey on the menu.
here in australia,we dont often do turkey as its too hot&time consuming(outdoor lot)So@most peoples there a ham&other roast meats(hot/cold)+always mango&cherries
