Can you help me with a recipe?!

Question: Could I substitute any kind of nut in this recipe? I love hazelnuts and walnuts, so I like the idea of creating a sandwich spread from them.

2 cups roasted shelled peanuts
1 tablespoon peanut oil
1/2 teaspoon salt (omit if salted peanuts are used)

Also: Should the nuts be cold or warm before grinding?

I think those would be great substitutions, I think regular peanuts are to plain jane for me so I always use a different nut! I have never had a walnut spread but I would realy like to try now that its mentioned lol! as for the cold and warm question!! it depends on if you wat a roasted spread or not! I personally always roast mine it brings out the max flavor in the nut and it just taste so much better! and gets your house smelling yummy!!

I routinely substitute hazelnuts for other type of nuts in banana breads. For this recipe, if you want roasted flavor, lightly roast the nuts in a tb oil for about 10 mins and then use them. You can buy hazelnut spread and almond butter, so it can be easily done.
