I ran out of spaghetti sauce and the only thing i have is ketchup. is there a way i can use that?!

Question: in a way that it don't taste like ketchup?

Answers: in a way that it don't taste like ketchup?

Actually sometimes i perfer to use canned tomatoes instead of bottled sauce. what i do is get the canned tomatoes and I put it in a sauce pan and let it simmer on medium heat. Season it to taste with italian seasoning or basil or oregeno or all of the above even garlic salt is really yummy. also put in just a little bit of sugar. It cuts the acid and make it a little sweet. Also if you have some hamburger (or italian sausage, cut the casing open and fry it up that way)on hand fry it up in a seperate pan, drain and add it to the simmering sauce. fresh garlic is good too :) this should make for a good sauce. good luck!

Eww...

Um,,, do you have canned tomatoes or canned tomao sauce? That would be much better...... (will check back for update)

OK, since you have canned tomatoes..... do this instead of ketchup:

Heat olive oil in pan over med. heat. Add a finely chopped onion, saute. Add garlic, saute, do not burn. Add canned tomatoes, but suqeeze each whole tomato (assuming that's the "balls") into the pot, curshnig w/ your hands. Add juice too. now add a splash of red wine if you have it. Add "Italian Seasoning" if you have it; if not, add oregano, basil, thyme. Add some pepper and a bit of salt. Simmer for about 30 min w/ lid off until it reaches your desired thickeness. Add whatever cooked meat to it you desire.

HTH!

if you have canned tomatoes and some italian spices you can make areally nice sauce that way.

It would still probally taste alot like ketchup but you could season the **** out of it.

Put the tomatoes in the blender and add Italian spices as you cook the mixture.

Leave the Ketchup in the fridge... to sweet.

uuuummm it will be hard to make it taste like something else besides ketchup. If you have some milk, butter, mozzarella cheese, oregano, salt and pepper you can make a nice white sauce for pasta. Just seasoning according to your taste.

Spaghetti Casserole
INGREDIENTS
1 pound spaghetti
1 pound lean ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 1/2 cups ketchup
1 teaspoon dried oregano
salt and pepper to taste
1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
DIRECTIONS
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain and reserve.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. In a large skillet, brown ground beef until no longer pink; drain reserving 1 tablespoon of drippings in pan. Set beef aside. In skillet saute onion, green bell pepper and garlic until just soft. Combine browned beef, ketchup, oregano, salt and pepper with onion mixture; mix well. Pour mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish. On top of mixture, layer pasta and then sprinkle on cheese. Bake in preheated oven until cheese is melted.

ENJOY!!!

Brown and drain hamburger meat. Add Ketchup, oragano, pepper, satued onion, sauted green pepper, and serve. Good.
