I have a bunch of 1/2 pint canning jars. What kind of Christmas gifts could I use them for?!

Question: I was thinking jar mixes, but they're so small. Any ideas?

I love esmerelda's idea for spice mixes. I think I will do the same thing. I found this webiste, if you are interested.

But I will probably do Emeril's Essence, my favorite.
EMERIL'S ESSENCE CREOLE SEASONING
from Emeril Live EM1D02

Ingredients needed:

2 1/2 tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon dried leaf oregano
1 tablespoon dried thyme

Combine all ingredients thoroughly and store in an airtight jar or container.

Yield: about 2/3 cup

Make some custom spice mixes and bbq rubs - someone gave these to me one year and I thought they were really wonderful!

Homemade jellies, jams, pickles. apple butter

fill them with candy

make homemade hot chocolate mixes and add a bag of marshmellows with it.

Homemade taco seasoning is a hit, no fussing with the little packets, and include the recipe on how you made it so they can refill the jar when it's empty.

This isn't food related, but you could also fill it with bath beads or bubble bath powder.

Put all the dry ingredients for a cookie recipe inside, attach the complete recipe to the outside...add a pretty ribbon.

Jams and jellies

Make soup mixes...all they would have to do is add the wet ingredients: water/tomatoes
put in some bouillion cubes, pasta, herbs, dehydrated veggies

I would make my homemade taco seasoning. You could add it to a little gift basket with hot sauces or gourmet salsas. Include some recipe cards if you like.

Here's the recipe:

TACO SEASONING
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper

DIRECTIONS:
Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container.

Use 2-3 tablespoons for 1 pound of ground beef.

Razzle Dazzle is the best site for recipes. I make a bunch of them for my family baskets for holidays.
