Can someone tell me how to cook beans so that they dont give you gas?!

Question: I was cooking black beans by soaking overnight, then cookinig in crockpot for 6 hours. The thing is sometimes they would be cooked in 6 hours & others they needed to be cooked overnight. Can ou please tell me how long to soak, how long to boil or crockpot (whatever is faster) & what amount of beans to cook at one time....one bag, 2 bags? Also I am trying to cook as much at one time as possible cause I eat about 3 cups of beans a day. Thank you.

BEST answer,,, try it

i hear banking soda cut down on the gas

I suggest taking Beano and not worrrying so much about the cooking.

Beans don't really give you gas.... I thought that was just a bunch of BS because I eat'em all the time and no gas.

beans are beans, there going to give you gas, just dont eat as much.

Adding a bout 2 Tbsp of baking soda per bag of beans before soaking helps a lot, but you'll probably not avoid it all together. Then dump the cooking water half way through cooking and add fresh hot water to the pot and finish them off. (I just put a pot of water on simmer low to stay how while the beans cook, so the cooking time isn't interupted much.
Cooking them on the stove is the fastest way. I just put 2 lbs to soak overnight or at least 8 hours and make sure the beans are in a large enough pot that water will cover them by 2 times the volume of the beans. They soak up a lot of water.

Rinse, and drain the beans and start them in fresh water. Do not add any salt or anything with salt until the bean is tender or they'll take forever to cook. Salt makes the bean stay hard a long time. Add, your other ingredients that you like in your beans, like onion, celery, whatever, and bring to a boil, then lower to simmer, and cover pot and let simmer for about an hour and a half. Test the bean for donesess, then add your salt and other spices you want at this time. And cook for a few more minutes.

EAT beans take BEANO Oh go outside often
