Fill the pot with hot water and boil it. Don't let it boil dry. Follow the first poster's advice; he's right.
Don't use Dad's expensive stuff for a project if you don't have a candy thermometer for monitoring the temperature.
And don't mess with thin pans when using really hot stuff. Ever.
Run hot water in the pan. If it doesn't come off just by running it under hot water, fill the pan with water and boil it and that will release it. I have done it many times.
Put hot water in the pan/pot and let it sit for a few minutes. Then put it on the stove on warm until the ingredients soften up. As long as it isn't burned you aren't in trouble.
**** Don’t worry, all you have to do is put the pot in water, all the hard sugar will dissolve and the pot will be fine.
Did the candy turn out good ?
