I have only 3 hours to do some baking for a Christmas fete, what can I make in that time?!
Thank you
Answers: I would deffinantly like to make a Yule log and I've been asked to make some craklets and peppermint creams, what else can I make?
Thank you
good old jam tarts..with jam and lemon curd fillings...victoria sponge cake with buttercream and jam...rice crispie cakes..mince pies/fruit cake! x
just go the local shop and stock up on mince pies etc.... say u made em urself
How about some christmas mine pies. make the pastry yourself and buy in the filling. is so much easier and is only half the time to make.. Good luck with your fete. x
Fairy cakes always seem to be a winner, just cut out a template with greaseproof paper of a star or something christmassy and then dust on the icing suger
Not much. I would just call the local bakery.
Why not make Rocky Road Tiffin.
Melt chocolate
Crush digestive biscuits with a rolling pin in a plastic bag.
Mix in mini marsh mellows, glacier cherries, sultanas and melted chocolate.
Leave to set in the fridge.
This will go down really well, always a favourite and so easy!
how about some rice crispy nests or cornflake nests, all u have to do is melt the choc, stir in the cereals, put into bun cases n chill for 30mins
This from someone who doesn't normally do cooking / baking but I've tried this Flapjack recipe from a cereal packet.
125g butter or margarine. 125g demerara sugar 5 table spoons golden syrup ( option I add a teaspoon of black treacle as well ) and don't worry if the treacle is a bit generous within reason it just takes a bit longer to cook . 225g nice porridge / porage oats, 1 teaspoon ground ginger. I also add a few raisins. Pre heat oven 190C, 374F, gas mark5. grease 20cm round tin, ideally with a loose base to help getting them out. Melt butter with syrup and sugar in large pan, add oats & ginger & raisons if included. Put in tin, bake approx 20 mins, let cool in tin a while sufficiently to let you mark the wedge shaped portions, cool completely and if you can resist eating them yourself take to the fete.
how about some cookies cut into Christmas shapes
I love almond peppermint bark:
Get the almond bark (White chocolate)
Get a box of candy canes
Put the candy canes in a baggie and crunch them into small pieces, then warm the almond bark up with 1/2 stick of butter in a sauce pan. Once it is melted completely then add your candy cane pieces in, stir briefly, then pour into a greased baking pan. Let it cool in the fridge for 1 hour and you can then break into chunks and you have peppermint bark candy.
fairy cakes or large victoria sponge.failing that asda or tescos do a good range
