Pie crust? how do you make the pie crust look shiny?!

Question: Make an egg wash using 1 egg and 1 Tbs. water. beat the egg and water well then brush a light coat over your pie crust. Bake following the directions of your recipe. Don't coat to heavily or the crust will be soft from the extra moisture. If you bake tons you can mix up 2 or 3 eggs following the formula above and placing in a blender or food processor and process 30 seconds then pour into a small spray bottle and spray the mixture on the crust. It saves dirtying a brush and covers well without putting on to much. I learned this in a bakery i worked at. When i do more than 4 pies i do the spray bottle thing. You can keep the bottle of egg wash in the fridge for no more than 2 days before you need to wash it out and start over.

Try brushing on a milk wash just before it's finished

give it an egg wash.. the protein will give the shiny look when it "cooks".

Beat an egg with a little bit of milk or cream and brush it on lightly (if you put on a ton, it will make the crust soft and itll fall apart!!) You'll get a rly nice shiny crust =D

mix an egg yolk with little milk and brush it on the crust just before you put it in the oven.

my grandma uses
a beated egg
on all of her pumpkin pies

Use beated egg yolk with milk...

Brush with egg whites prior to baking.
