Is Pam butter flavored cooking spray bad for you?!

Question: It says it's fat free and almost completely calorie free, but not sure if I believe it. I like to spray it on my popcorn and toast instead of using butter. Is this a healthier alternative or am I being fooled into thinking it is!?!

Try using Smart Balance Buttery Burst Cooking Spray with Organic Soy
With zero calories, zero carbs, and zero fat per serving, our Cooking Spray. It adds a burst of fresh butter flavor to any food minus the cholesterol or saturated fat of regular butter. You can use it as a pan spray or even as a topping.

A 3 second spray has much less fat than butter, so yes it is good for you.

no its actually pretty healthy

That is completely disgusting!!!! Pam is for cooking so your food doesn't stick to the pan instead of using butter or oil. It is not for spraying on food. Get some I can't Believe it's Not Butter spray and use that instead, it's still fairly low-cal and not NASTY!!!!

Use olive oil -- it's FAR, FAR better for you.

Pam leaves a NASTY aftertaste!

I read the lable. It's essentially oil, but the propellent is a chemical I'd rather not eat. If you spray it on a hot cooking surface the propellent dissipates, but if you spray it on popcorn and toast you're getting all of it... and in my opinion not a good idea. BTW I love your avatar. Where did you get it?

I use the spray on top of my biscuits before I bake them, instead of adding a little dab of butter. It makes a lot more sense than adding more calories I don't need and serves the same function.

no,but it may not taste as good as some others.

It is fat free and calorie free!! It does work, but isn't better for you than butter on your popcorn.

That sounds like the suggestion from my dietician that I dredge my toast in OLIVE oil!!! gagggy!!!

I have given up toast, breads, and popcorn for the reason of not having the great taste of butter on them. BTW: butter and margarine have the same calorie count and fat gram count.
