Icing Recipe?!

Question: Hello! I really enjoy cake/cookie decorating. I was wondering if there was a recipe that I could make weeks before hand, and just add water/milk the day I need it. I know you can buy packages of icing 'powder' that you add milk to and mix and you have icing, but can i make the powder myself, and if so, whats the recipe? Thanks!

you really can't prepare before hand

you can make your icing before hand and freeze it .

decorator icing is jus powdered sugar , tsp of water, vanilla and crisco vegetable shortening . add color you want , mix .

id divide one batch into some smaller bowls and then color them.

there isnt a powder recipe that you can make yourself for ahead of time. you have to buy powder, make the icing yourself which doesnt take very long, or buy ready made icing. i like to make the icing myself personally. if you want icing recipes go to foodnetwork.com

1 cup packed brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon cream

Directions:
Combine in a saucepan the brown sugar, salt, butter or margarine and milk. Cook, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Then cook without stirring until mixture forms a soft ball when a little is dropped in cold water (234 degrees F - 115 degrees C). Cool to lukewarm (110 degrees F). Put into small bowl and beat until it begins to thicken.

Add vanilla and cream and continue beating until of spreading consistency. If thicker consistency is desired, beat in a small amount of sifted confectioners' sugar. Quickly spread on cake. Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired. Enough to frost two 8 inch layers.

In a large bowl, beat butter and peanut butter until light and fluffy. Slowly beat in 1/2 of the confectioner's sugar. Mix in 1/4 cup of the cream. Beat in the remaining confectioners' sugar. If necessary, add a little more cream or milk until the frosting reaches a good spreading consistency. Makes enough to frost one 2 layer 9 inch cake or one 9x13 inch cake.

3 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup light corn syrup

Directions:
In a saucepan on very low heat, carefully melt the chocolate and butter, stirring constantly. Add the corn syrup, sugar, and milk. Increase heat to medium-high, bring to a boil, and cook for 5-8 minutes, stirring only occasionally, until the mixture becomes a candy-like, gooey fudge. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Let chill to spreadable consistency.

Lemon Orange Frosting
