Is "Pure vegetable shortening" hydrogenated?!

Question: On the ingredient list of a frozen pie shell they said it has "pure vegetable shortening", is this hydrogenated? and if/if not would it contain trans fats?
(the only other ingredients were flour, water, and salt i think)
Thanks for the help!

unless the shorting is made from palm oil then it is hydrogenated. lately shortening that is trans fat free has become available.. but i can guarantee that the kind your talking about isnt.. and just take the time to make a pie shell anyways.. you will be healthier because you WILL use BUTTER because BUTTER IS BETTER.... shortening will kill you because its full of trans fat and just has no flavor

have fun making a REAL pie shell!!

yup i just checked mine it does. ahhh poop. gotta switch brands. i think they have ones that don't

hydrogenation is used to solidify the oil into a paste so if its vegetable shortening its hydrogenated and certain to contain trans fats

yup
