Good old ham-n-beans what can do??!
Answers: I want to spice up reg. old ham-n-beans,. what SPICE can I add to make the taste POP?!!
it depends how spicy you want it first i saute some chopped garlic & onion & add to it also instead of adding the spice to the dish itself make a real spicy salsa either a pico de gayo. with fresh jalepeno, serrano & hueritos (yellow hots) then fresh cilantro, onion & tomatoes chopped; or a taco like salsa a can of whole or diced tomatoes, garlic, green onions, cilantro & oregano, put in a blender if you like. & serve on the side with fresh baked cornbread that way people can add as much spice as they like.
chilli powder or tobasco sauce
What kind of beans and what do you usually put onto it? I live in Cajun country and we use a lot of red kidney beans and white (baby Lima's) beans. Different seasonings for different beans! you can e mail me through my profile and I'll give you a great recipe although we use sausage in red beans
creole seasoning is good in bean soup, you can use Cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper, i tad of apple cider vinegar also brings out the flavors(easy on the vinegar a little goes a long way.) of course garlic is always good don't be afraid to experiment.
Add a can of Ro-Tel. I cook mine in a crock pot. Very delish.
Red pepper flakes or Tabasco.

im a big ham and bean fan i use pre smoked ham hocks, it really gives the beans a good smoked flavor.
