Cookie cutter question, which is better plastic or metal?!

Question: I use both. I think the dough doesnt stick to the plastic as bad as the metal, but the metal cuts much nicer. I just use both, because I have both. Its all up to you. What I do too, is dip my cutters in the flour before I cut and also if you dust some flour on the top of the dough, that'll help too.*

  • Metal, I think

    stainless steel

    metal of course!

I think metal cuts better, but I like plastic because they won't rust.

Unless its Stainless Steel, which is rare for cheap cutters, then plastic is much better.

    i think metal!!!!!1it cut everything

plastic ... metal leaves weird taste .. sometimes

    Metal, for sure.

    metal cuts better

Metal... would you prefer a plastic knife or a metal one?

It doesn't really matter what they're made of. Just dust them with flour or starch so that the dough doesn't stick. I've used drinking glasses for cookie cutters.

Metal cuts better, but plastic doesn't loose it's shape as easily as a metal cutter would, and it doesn't rust.

I would say plastic just because the metal ones seem to misshape and deform. Just put some flower on the plastic ones and they should be fine. Either way works it just depends on how good the cutter is. If its a cheap one it will break or deform. But if its more expensive or a good brand like wilton it will be fine.

    Metal of course

    metal is better

Metal, yes seems to work better, but don't ask me why!

It's entirely up to each person, some like metal others like plastic. I have both and use both, sometimes you can't find the shape you want in a metal but found one in plastic. Don't know if this makes any sense, but think that the metal ones are sharper and cut better,

I use both but for lots of baking I like metal.

Doesn't matter, as long as the cutting edge is nice and sharp and the cutter is sturdy. Some pretty metal cookie cutters are flimsy and will change shape as you use them. Plastic can crack, but are dishwasher safe. I'd go by whatever shape you like, then make sure it's sturdy and sharp.

I have used both and each worked just as good as the other....metal is a little more durable and will not break easily like the plastic ones but they can get bent out of shape if you are using hard dough....but usually cookie dough is soft so you will not have that problem so in my opinion, either one works

i perfer metal cause it stick alot less

I would say plastic. Some of the metal cookie cutters are thin and flimsy and will bend out of shape once put away.

Both are good, dip them in flour before cutting something out so that they don't stick to the dough.

Metal - the dough doesn't get stuck as easily and much easier to clean!

    no diff

I've used both and I like the metal ones best. I have my mothers box of cookie cutters (they're old) and I like them better than the new ones I see in stores.

    metal washes cleaner

they're both good, but i go for metal
