What are some philipino chicken dishes that you serve over rice?!
Answers: When I was younger, I had a babysitter who was Pilipino. She used to make this great chicken dish that she would serve over white rice. I do not remember any exact details but I do know that the dish had chicken, maybe some vegetables and had a savory soup-like sauce. I know this is all very general, but I would like to make this meal again. Does anyone know any recipes for meals like this? The meal may be a philipino dish or may not. If you know please help. :) Thanks
The above answers are correct- It is chicken Adobo... so delicious. Here is a recipe I found online.
1 whole chicken (cut into eighths)
1 whole garlic (chopped)
olive oil or vegetable/corn oil
1 tsp ground black pepper
4 whole black pepper cloves
3 dried bay leaves
1 cup soy sauce
1 cup vinegar
**7up/sprite
**1 whole lemon (cut into 4)
Remember to wash your chicken very well. We recommend using the lemon (in ingredients) to scrub all over the chicken parts and rub some salt into it as well.
Heat oil and add all of the garlic, and cook until garlic is lightly browned. Add chicken and saute until the chicken is beginning to tenderize.
Add ground black pepper, whole black pepper cloves, soy sauce, and vinegar, and let simmer for 25-35 mins or until chicken is done.
Make sure to add more vinegar or soy sauce until it suits your taste (should be a bit tangy). When chicken is tender, add some 7 up if you want a sweeter taste, and let simmer for 5 more mins.
Serve over rice.
I Believe it is called Adobo Chicken you could probably find the recipe pretty easy on the net.
It sounds like chicken adobo. I also love this dish. It's been years since I've had it but if I remember right the recipe has vinegar, soy and garlic in it maybe a couple more things in it. The dish is very simple. The method of cooking is a little different. I know in Asian grocery store you can buy a mix or seasoning packet. Just look on line for a few recipes. My Filipino friends that made it for me years ago called it adobo.
