The dangers of being barefoot in the kitchen????!

Question: Any other girls give yourself a hotfoot in the kitchen? I dropped a pot of hot oatmeal on my toes this morning and hopped around holding my foot for about 20 seconds yelping and cursing! Owwwie! Do I get sympathy or a dork award? Or does it serve me right for perpetuating a stereotype? I like to be barefoot and I like to cook!

The milk man is liable to come through the back door and your skirt tail is on the rise.Ut oh!!!!

Well, you learned a valuable lesson form this experience.

Just watch out for the knives, I only drop them when I am barefoot!!!!!
COOK-ON!!!!!

just be a little more carefull.
some enjoy cooking in the nude. they just have
to be carefull..

sympathy from me, anyway. you could get badly burned that way or broken bones.

That's the best way to be !!!

I was chopping veggies once & dropped the big chopping knife & it bounced off the floor & sliced the side of my leg, had to get stitches !!!

I cook barefoot but never have i had a hot foot . Maybe you need to pay attention to how your gripping and holding stuff in the kitchen .

Stay barefooted Debi B but be careful and watch out for your little tootsies!

I'm a guy and I cook and I know how you feel. It hurts like hell. I actually broke the pot I used to cook with.

Pardon the laughing over here: It looks funnier than it feels, I know.

I've cooked barefoot often, especially during the summer. And I do have to watch for boiling water and splattered grease. And believe me, a few times I could have given sailors lessons!

Well im not a girl but i give you sympathy because once i was baking a cake and then the cake(straight out of the oven) fell on my leg. Dont worry about it, nextime i learned to waer socks. If someone says something jsut say that your at least you cook and not so lazy that reaching for a pair of hotpockets is considered cooking. Unfortunetlly, if i was there i would probably have laughed(no offense).

Well its not your fault. I also like to be bare foot and cook. I would just be more careful next time. Also try wearing slippers, socks, or slipper socks. Thats wut i do. Well hope your burn feels better! Bi!

Our floors are slippery, and I can be clumsy. So slipping, falling, breaking toes, stepping on a piece of glass that came out from under the baseboard, stubbing toes, grease splatters. I wear socks and houseshoes around the house for a little protection. But I bet cooking barefoot makes you keep the floors squeaky clean!

Once I dropped a stoneware cup and it shattered and cut my toe, I still have a scar there. It's winter so I am wearing socks!

Wear slippers.... They are comfy, and you will regret being barefoot for the rest of your life!!! I give you both awards. No offense, but it is kind of dumb to not wear shoes when in the kitchen....

Just an accident my dear, But yeah, i always am BARFOOT ALSO, , But there are dangers in the kitchen, i cant tell you how much i have been injured, Alot, I accidnetly bruised my big toe, and broke it, cause i bumped into the dishwasher, ok, And 1 time i cut myself, Glass on the floor where my son never picked up his mess properly, I accidently stepped on a spider one time, Learn to wear socks, or have a fuzzy pair of slippers, Soo sorry about your foot , that hurts,

I've been barefoot for over ten years -not just in the kitchen but everywhere. I've never dropped anything hot on my foot, and really, only closed-toe, waterproof shoes would provide protection from that. Spill any hot soup or other liquid on your socked, slippered or sandalled foot and the liquid will be kept close to the skin for a longer time, making the burn worse. (flipflops certainly won't help against dropping something onto your foot either; or did they invent flipflops with an invisible force field?).

Whenever you drop something hot on *any* body part, remember to get to the cold tap right away, flush it off and keep rinsing with cold water for a couple minutes. You can curse while doing that ;-), but try to keep your mind cool enough to skip the hopping around; even if you don't see any food or hot drink on the skin, burn damage keeps getting worse for a while after the actual burn unless it gets cooled, and water works better than just shaking it around in the air.

Eventually, you will drop a glass or cup on the kitchen floor and if barefoot you are likely to get a nasty cut on the bottom of the foot or toes. It is a bloody mess with footprints all over as you try to clean ups then the blood then the glass then the blood.... you get the idea. please try to wear slippers at least. Been there done that!!!
