I always use a masher

a masher is best
mix it with the masher as well for lump free mash

I always use a one-piece stainless steel masher.

My mashed potatos are renowned amongst my daughter's school friends.

I don't use a masher, but I use a straining spoon, you know the big one with holes in it. It mashes very well not only does it mash but whatever you mash goes through the holes and become even smoother. Plus you can mix and mash all at once.

Definitely use a masher. Then I get my hand mixer out and beat it for about 30 seconds.

I use a potato masher. But I like to leave the lumps. That's what makes them stand out as being home-made.

MASHERS are hard work.

Try using an electric hand whisk - they are less than a tenner and just great for mashing with a good knob of butter.

You won't get better creamier smooth mash any how.

No hassle.

I use a ricer , it's a much better tool

I always use a potato masher and do them by hand although a friend of mine uses her electric beaters to make them. Seems like overkill to me though!

my mum always used a fork but i prefer a masher for smoother mash make sure the potatoes are well cooked before mashing it makes it easier .

i use a food mill..but ricers are good too!

preferably use a masher as whisks can give a glutenous finish. Also always make sure the milk you add is BOILING hot milk. If you do that you will have less work mashing.

do not use a electric mixer or it will turn out like wall pater past

I use a potato masher. But actually I don't make home made mash potatoes anymore. I use the "instant" (shhhhhhhhhh). They taste great and take far less time to make.
