Can you make dumpings without self raising flour? i only have plain in the cupboard?!


Question: yes, here is a recipe

2 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk

MIx flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Add milk and stir to make a soft dough. Add a little more milk or flour, if dough is too thin or stiff. Drop dough from tablespoonfuls onto simmering stew. Cover stew tightly and cook for about 15 minutes without removing cover.

These may not be as light as what you are normally used to

add bicarbonate of soda, or baking powder...

which i add to SR, my dumples are HUGE... i also add herbs, or black pepper, or milled chilli's..mm hot.

you can do some amazing things with suet n flour

Yes if you have baking powder in cupboard as well.

Use drinking soda instead of water to make the dough.
