I have a box of New Orleans Dirty Rice mix, creative cooks, any great recipes to spice it up?!

Question: I have jumbo shrimp and beef sausage

Answers: I have jumbo shrimp and beef sausage

Hey...another "Sassy" Gal !! I'm from New Orleans and I've even used these mixes and find that they are very close to the original made-from-scratch item. (I'd save my shrimp for another dish..not because they wouldn't taste good, che', but because they would make another dish in themselves)...any sort of sausage or ground meat; some people like chicken liver/gizzards (not me!) and if you want, add the "holy trinity", 1/2 each celery, green pepper and onion. I love this mixes. They taste great and sometime you can add extra rice if it's a bit to spicey for you. I think you can handle it, honey. Godloveya.

dice up some vidalia sweet onion, set aside in a bowl, pour some extra virgin olive oil and a little bit of cracked black pepper, after you make the dirty rice spoon some of the onion and oil mix over it. its real good. mixing cheese and sour cream in with it is pretty good but not with shrimp.

I always add onions and hot cajun sausage, fried and sliced. My family loves it! It was the first meal my son requested on his return from USMC bootcamp!
