Fresh vanilla bean storage?!

Question: I bought 1/2 pound of vanilla beans to make Christmas gifts with but I have some left over. How can I store these. Can I freeze them? What's the best option to keep these beans useable.

Tanks!!!

Vanilla beans will keep indefinitely in a cool, dark place in an airtight container. Don't refrigerate beans as this can cause them to harden and crystallize.

just wrap them in parchment paper and tie the ends- or what the other guy said LOL i'm wondering what you made now, it sounds nice!!

The site below will give you lots of info. My mother always kept hers in a paper envelope inside a glass jar in the back of her spice cupboard. I guess this website confirms she knew what she was doing! I've always stored my vanilla beans that way, just cuz Mom did!

In an air-tight jar,in(with)caster sugar.Keeps vanilla bean moist&fresh&@the same time you are making vanilla sugar.mmm
