I need a recipe to prepare a Ribeye steak on the stove or in the oven. I don't have an iron skillet.?!
In a skillet on top of the stove, (don't need an iron skillet, even a pan from the dollar store will be fine) put a dab of butter in the pan and fry your steak. Clean up is easier, but you have the butter thing. 5 minutes on each side depending on how done you want it. If you put a lid on it, it will cook faster, but it will be more steamed than fried.
good luck
Answers: Not in the oven, the Broiler. If you do it in the broiler, it will cook really fast so be careful and make sure you turn it. 5 minutes per side depending on whether it is thawed and how thick it is and how well done you want it. Fat drips away in the broiler but clean up is a pain.

Just a thought... Iron skillets cost less than $15 dollars.
Why not broil it in the oven? Sprinkle some garlic powder, salt and pepper on it, and broil until brown, turn over, take it out when both sides are brown.
Cooking steak in the oven will make it dry and tough.
I just use a little salt & pepper or garlic powder on both sides. Put the oven on broil & put the steal on a small cookie sheet covered with foil. Cook about 3 minutes & turn for another three or four minutes. That is for med rare. Dales works great also.
Use a pan and just put some water on there and put your seasonings on it make it real tender and put it in the oven for about a hour in half or and hour it will be when done and ready to eat.
Never cook a perfectly good steak in a skillet. User your oven's broiler. A good thick steak can be cooked in approx 15 min. (5-7 min on each side). If you don't have a broiler pan, use a cookie sheet with sides and a wire rack sitting on it. Line cookie sheet with foil for easier cleanup.
Use Ms. Dash or Lemon Pepper for seasoning.
When you do get a skillet, get a wok instead - especially if you have a gas stove!
Hi--Steak is best when cooked under the broiler. No prep.necessary. Depending on how thick--5 to 8 min.
on each side. Also, depending on how well you like
them done.....Happy Cookin'!!! hope I helped
I like mine seasoned with salt, pepper and paprika. 3 tbls. oil in pan over medium heat....5-8 minutes per side
If you have a broiler pan in your oven you can use that. Smash some garlic and let it sit in 2 tablespoons of olive oil for 30-60 minutes, brush the broiler side with the garlic oil. Then just lightly salt and pepper the top of the steaks. Broil for 4-7 minutes about 3 inches under an open flame depending on thickness and desire doneness. Turn, Broil for 2-3 minutes and serve longer cooked side up.
what pans do you have?
A cast iron skillet is great but not for Ribeye!!
Broil the thing. This is a dry heat cut of meat!!
if you don't have the broiler pan: tray pan with slotted cover tray, then use a cookie sheet with foil, build up the sides of the foil for lip to hold the fats. put a rack on it, sprayed with non stick spray and broil your Ribeye. Do not put the salt and pepper or other seasonings on til it is nearly done. Broil about 10 minutes per side for medium rare which is just hot pink in the middle.
