Puppy Chow

18 ounce box Honey Graham cereal
15 ounce box Golden Raisins
12 ounce jar of peanuts
12 ounce bag of chocolate chips
1 stick of butter or margarine
12 ounce jar of creamy peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 box powdered sugar

Mix raisins, cereal, and nuts together. Melt chocolate chips, margarine, and peanut butter together. Stir in vanilla. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal mixture. Pour powdered sugar in a large plastic trash bag and then pour cereal mixture in and shake until covered well with powdered sugar. Spread it out to dry a little so that it will not stick together

seems like you already have the recipes, so to melt chocolate:

On the stove, you will need a double boiler. This consists of either 2 pots or a pot and a glass bowl. The bottom pot needs a few inches of boiling water in it. Once the water is boiling, you put either the second pot or the glass bowl on top of the pot and put your chocolate in the bowl. Stir constantly until the chocolate is melted.

In the microwave, you put the chocolate in a microwave proof bowl and microwave on 50% power in 30 second increments until the chocolate is mostly melted. Once the chocolate is mostly melted, keep stirring until it is fully melted, microwaving for shorter periods (15 seconds) until all the chocolate melts.

You can use almost any type of chocolate, however, with puppy chow, either semi sweet or milk chocolate will work best.
