In Australia is cornmeal the same as corn flour if not where do you get it?!

In America, some call cornmeal "corn flour". But cornmeal is coarse. Open a box and see. Flour would be much finer. But not as fine as corn starch. with your browser, type : corn flour+corn meal+corn starch. I am sure you will come up with something

Yes, it's the same.

I think in Australia cornmeal is the coarser yellow stuff. Almost breadcrumby, & is used in place of crumbs for certain foods. Eg. our local fish & chip shop breadcrumbs calamari, fish, prawn cutlets but does the sea scallops with a cornmeal mix. Haven't got around to asking why but have noticed this happening more frequently lately, maybe better for you than breadcrumbs?
