When making cakes could I replace sugar with mashed up bananas rather than sweetener, has any1 tried this?!

Question: i have done it b 4 and it does work, it wont affect the taste of the cake of muffins but it will affect the texture just a lil by making it a little bit thicker, also make sure if u r going to do this make dam sure that the bananas are really mashed up lmao

I can't imagine it would be very good or I would have seen that substitution suggested somewhere.

Ive never replaced entirely with bananas but I do reduce the sugar called for when I make muffins.

You can substitute banana for the sweetness, but you won't get the same texture, so it's not an exact replacement. Works better with some recipes than others, e.g. like someone said with muffins (which are denser than say a fairy cake). Applesauce also can be used. Experiment and have fun. Good luck!

yes,it will make it moist, and is much better than sugar or sweetener!

as long as you whip butter with banana if not adding sugar it is good , you don't always have to add sugar to cakes you can also add honey

my mother use to use applesauce instead of sugars or sweeteners it changes the texture of the cake but it was moist and was actually pretty good. But I still prefer to use sugar

There is also Agave Syrup (or nectar) Which is a natural sweetender you can buy-i think it comes from fruit or flowers ( Can't remember which)
You can buy it from Holland And Barrett and other health food stores.

Your cake mixture will go soggy with the bananas.

not really as bananas don't have that much sugar content, if u used apple say they have loads of natural sugar than will replace the normal sugar. but to use bananas you will have to take some sugar out but you will have to use sugar and not replace the whole amount of sugar
