Is it ok to cook ground beef if it has turned brown?!

Question: If its not expired or smelly then why does it turn brown? Is it still good?

as long as it has been riefrigerated, sure it's fine. the meat turning brown is normal. those often really red ground beef products you see in butchers windows and supermarkets are often treated with a sodium based chemical to make them that colour.... which apparently makes it commercially appealing.

be careful though. try to eat ground beef soon after purchase as it tends to deteriorate faster than unprocessed/ground beef. alternatively for a fresher product, pick out a cut of meat at your butchery and ask your butcher to grind it for you. that way you know what you are getting

its still good. brown meat just means that the blood dried out of it.

should be good but dont take the chance

if it doesn't smell bad, and when you break it apart it still has pink on the inside, then it's probably fine

yes, if it has been kept refrigerated....
It will look okay on the inside

UMM I REALLY WOULDNT COOK IT, IF I WERE U JUST THROUGH IT OUT, WHEN MEAT TURNS BROWN LIKE THAT, IT MEANS ITS GETTIN OLD AND IT IS KNOW GOOD, AND U CAN GET VERY SICK FRM EATING THAT

Yes, Beef is kept red because it is packaged in a carbon monoxide rich environment, some companies use less CO so the beef tends to turn brown through oxidation. The beef should be fine as long as it is used within the use by date and smells okay.

Yes it is okay, as long as it doesn't have a bad smell.

The brown is because air got to it. I would use it pretty soon. If you don't plan on using it tonight, fry it up and re-freeze. Then, for any recipe, pull it out and thaw in frig for a day or thaw on defrost in microwave. It is good until it starts stinking.

It's just the outer layer of ground meat which has oxidized a little. If the meat doesn't smell bad and has been kept cold since it was ground, it should be ok.
To be perfectly safe, though, cook it thoroughly before eating.

stores put red dye on the meat to keep it more appealing to buyers- if there is no smell and the date is good then cook well and enjoy

As long as it doesnt smell bad it is ok

Yes it will still be fine, it is just the natural process that darkens the meat.
Most have and additive in them to make them look and last better under the lights in the meat chiller at the market.

It's fine to cook - I heard someplace that the change of color has something to do with whether it's been exposed to air or not. I don't remember all the details but I do remember them saying that it isn't bad for you to eat so enjoy!

If you bought it yesterday, kept it refrigerated, and cook it thoroughly! It should be OK. However smell it first. If there is any hint of an unpleasant odor, don't even think about cooking it. Get rid of it.
Always check the date of meat at the store before you buy it.
Sometimes I see hamburg, ground yesterday, marked down half price. It's OK to buy it, but you have to use it right away, or freeze it.
