I need a recipe for an appetizer using puff pastry.?!
Answers: Any good ones out there?
I like to just bake the puff pastry in muffin tins to form 'cups' and then fill with a variety of sweet or savory ingredients
goat cheese with lemon zest basil and fresh tomatoes
or
fresh fruit with a bit of chocolate sauce are two of my favorites
but you can fill them with prepared spreads or salads of any kind like crab dip with a shrimp on top or chicken salad dressed with grapes.
Mini Curry Puffs Recipes
chickencurry
Ingredients
1/3 of a sheet of Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry (1 box ~ 2sheets; 1 sheet~sectioned into 3 rectangulars). The other 2/3 of a sheet was used in Chicken Strudel.
2-3cups chicken curry (Note: use your leftover homemade chicken curry with potatos, or cook chicken curry just for this, or use your preferred curry mix and add potatos). Make sure chicken curry is dry for the curry puff (Note: wet chicken curry will make the pastry soggy)
1 hard-boiled egg, cubed
Directions
Method:
Thaw pastry per box instructions (Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry)
Cut 1/3 from one sheet of pastry; use rolling pin to flatten the pastry slighty
Use any round mould (small) to cut off circular sections, use rolling pin to flatten before adding filling
Add filling and top with cubed eggs
.Wrap it up like a round curry puff, and remember to "poke" some holes on the top surface (thanks to Simcooks for the "poking" tip)
Place in preheated oven of 400F, and bake 20-25mins
Out comes the minis!
Roll the pastry out to about 13" x 9"
Spread mixture of choice over the rectangle (cinnamon and sugar, Parmesan and paprika, herbs and onion powder, anchovies and black olive mince - you get the idea)
Fold up bottom half of rectangle to cover upper half and seal the edges. Roll out with rolling pin to increase size
Cut into strips. Twist each strip about 5 times per strip. Lay twists down on lightly greased cookie sheet
Bake at 375 until browned (12 min?)
Easy

Cheese Straws (sticks of cheesy puff pastry)
1 (17-1/4 oz.) pkg. prepared frozen puff pastry, thawed in refrigerator
1 lightly beaten egg white
Paprika
Cayenne pepper (optional)
1 cup finely shredded cheese such as aged cheddar, Asiago, or Parmesan
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degree F. Open one sheet of puff pastry on a cutting board. Brush the surface lightly with some of the beaten egg white. Sprinkle lightly with paprika and a touch of cayenne pepper, if desired. Sprinkle surface with 1/2 cup of cheese to evenly cover entire surface. Roll a floured rolling pin over cheese to gently press the cheese into the puff pastry.
Cut the puff pastry into long 1/2-inch-wide strips; gently twist each strip several times. Lay strips 1 inch apart on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat with remaining sheet of puff pastry, egg white, paprika, pepper, and cheese. Bake in the 375 degree F. oven for 12 to 14 minutes or until the straws are golden in color. Cool on wire rack. Best served the same day but can be stored overnight in an airtight container.
just wrap a small piece of the pastry around a shrimp, let the shrimp stick out each end, and bake. You can also cover a brie cheese with the pastry, and bake for about 30 minutes until the pastry is brown, and the cheese is melted. In either case, heat the oven to about 325
BAKED BRIE IN PUFF PASTRY
1 sheet Pepperidge Farm puff pastry - thawed
1 Brie - about 1 lb. in size
1 egg yolk mixed with
1 tsp. water
Set out frozen puff pastry about 20 to 30 minutes before ready to use.
Roll out pastry to 1/8" thickness. Cut off a 4" strip and set aside to use as decoration.
Place Brie in center of puff pastry and bring up edges and crimp edges together around Brie, sealing completely. Turn Brie - crimped dough side down on a baking sheet. With remaining 4" of dough left cut out leaf design or anything you may want to use as a decoration. Place on top of dough covered Brie. Refrigerate until ready to bake. This can be kept overnight for your convenience. Just cover with plastic wrap.
When ready to bake - remove plastic wrap. Mix egg yolk with 1 teaspoon water and brush entire dough covered Brie.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Remove from oven and let set 20-25 minutes before serving.
