Food Ideas to make and freeze to eat later?!
Answers: I am going to be having a c-section the end of this month, and I would like to make some meals to freeze so that dinner time will be a little bit easier after the surgery and new baby. I already plan to make a lasagna and some chili, but what else? I'll be feeding a family of 5.
you can make buckets of pasta sauce. just the tomato sauce, you know.. cook up onion, garlic, spices, plus the tomato sauce, freeze it in freezer bags,, and all you need is to thaw it out, boil up noodles, serve.. (ive even fried up buckets of ground meat, with spices, and froze it in individual portions) thawed it out, add it to tomato sauce, lasagna, caserolles, pizza's.. etc..
make some pizzas also, wrap in saran wrap, then foil.. freeze,, just thaw and bake
lasagna, ... make stew or beans, freeze in family portions or individual portions.. thaw, reheat..
make snacks for the others (kids if you have) like dogs in a blanket.. wrap hotdogs with croissant (puff) pastry or canned bisquit dough, and freeze till ready to bake
shepherds pie.. like a gravy based meat sauce with vegetables/gravy with dollops of mashed potatoes over.. you can freeze this, thaw later, then back
cornbread bake.. like the same mix above, or a chili based meat sauce, that you pour a ready made cornbread mix over, you can freeze this, later thaw and bake..
pizza turnovers... like calzones...

I may be lazy but personally Id just go to a supermarket looking for bargains and get a freezer full of cheap frozen dinners, so that peole can choose what they want themselves. Plus I'd tell hubby to get off his rump and do the cooking...ha-ha!
