What is your favorite Christmas food item / recipe?!


Question: My favorite Christmas food is my Irish Creme Fudge - I usually only make it around holiday time though it is good any time of the year.

I also use other liqueurs in place of the Irish Creme such as Kahlua, bandy, Kirsch, spiced/flavored rum and the new flavors of Kahlua mixing and matching nuts, coconut and dried fruits to match the liqueurs.

3 sticks of butter (3/4 pound)
3 cups sugar
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 7-ounce jar Kraft marshmallow crème
12 ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 bottle (airline size or nip)or 1 shot Irish Crème
2 cups walnuts or pecans - optional
2 8-inch square pans sprayed with non-stick spray

In a heavy 3 quart sauce pan - preferably enameled cast iron - melt butter, sugar and evaporated milk. Bring to a boil, turn down heat to a low boil and cook for 5 minutes.

Turn off heat and mix in marshmallow crème. Once that is incorporated, mix in the chocolate chips until mixture is an even chocolate color then add the Irish crème and nuts, mixing thoroughly.

Pour mixture into pans and cool thoroughly before cutting into squares and serving.

Champagne! After a couple of glasses, every recipe is my favorite.

It's called Yifta, it's swedish, it's layered coll whip, apple sause and Crushed grahm crakers. LOVE it. it's sweet but not too sweet. we make it every year, to go with the Lutifisk. :o)

My Catholic grandmother's wonderful home-made cookie buffet, with at least a dozen different varieties and homemade fruitcake, besides!

Best cookie: spicy peppernut cookies!

i am fifty one and since the early sixties when this recipe came out and my mother claimed it as her own it has been my favorite christmas treat, my whole family and my brothers families all love it, i have given the recipe over the years to friends who love it and now make it for the holidays too, its called royal chocolate fudge, you use royal chocolate pudding to make it, it never fails, but it has to be royal, not jello brand, jello brand will get lumpy and gross........it is the best fudge in the world and tasting it brings back memories of christmas over the years...........

Tamales, bu?uelos, Posole, Menudo is a main tradition in the Holidays.

But my family always keeps it americanized as we make Turkey, Roasted Ham with Pineapple, and what the rest will bring to the gathering.
