What else can I do with these brussel sprouts besides steaming them?!
Answers: You can cut them into quarters, and saute them with garlic, shallots, and olive oil. Add capers too for a bit more flavor.
I boil them with a bit of bacon grease and salt for seasoning. Quick, easy, and very tasty.
steam them yes. then sprinkle with some cheddar cheese yum.

And here is a whole group of recipes that use Brussel Spouts
saute them with garlic, butter and bacon
serve them with cheese sauce
roast them
place them in a shallow roasting pan, add a small amount(1/2 cup) of stock, vegetable, chicken, whatever you have, then drizzle with olive oil and salt and pepper. If you like rosemary or thyme...then roast @350 till soft to your liking, stir them once or twice during the roasting to cover them with the olive oil. The stock will ultimately dry up, but help to keep them from burning.
roast them in a hot 450 degree oven.
cut off some of the stem end, cut the sprouts in half
Put in a roasting pan, after patting them dry.
Pour EVOO over, about 3 Tablespoons.
Season with kosher salt and ground black pepper
toss with hands if you are not squimmish
put in oven, leave about 20 min, then stir around and cook about 20 min more or until a bit tender.
You will love them!!!!!!!!!!
I make a cream sauce
lean bacon
onions finely chopped
heavy cream
fresh chopped parsley
pepper and salt to taste
Worcesters
Let it cook a little for taste and toss the steamed Brussels sprouts into the sauce. Simmer just a little longer and serve.
My mom used to boil them, then mash them with either butter or bacon drippings. Add salt and a touch of pepper. Yum!
I tried a great recipe once. You chop your sprouts into small pieces , place in saucepan with just a small amount of water & cook for 5-8 mins, If any water left drain off & add fresh pouring cream (about 1/2 cup to 8-10 sprouts). When simmering begins turn down & let simmer till sprouts are tender. A delicious change to plain old boiled Brussel sprouts.
You can throw them at the Xmas carolers that come to your house , and stay for more than 1 song............Or you can use
them to put faces on your snowman.
This is my favorite Brussels Sprouts recipe:
Steam sprouts until just tender, drain well.
Meanwhile, toast about a 1/2 cup of slivered almonds in the oven.
In a separate pot, make a roux of about 3 T flour and 3-4 T butter. Cook just until bubbly. Add about 1 to 1 1/2 cups of vege broth or chicken broth (your choice), still until smooth. The idea is to have a medium thick sauce. Add ground nutmeg to taste (yes NUTMEG!)
Pour the sauce over the brussels sprouts and stir in the toasted almonds.
