Back to back xmas meals at my place - HELP!!?!

Question: Geez, how did I agree to this!!! : ) I'm having christmas eve dinner with the fam at my place, then the inlaws and other people are coming for christmas day lunch. Both must be outstanding. Any tips on how to cope? Would it be bad to cheat and make a bit more of something the day before? Any recipes that you think could help me would be GENIOUS!!!! thanks!!

Interesting problem you got yourself into..ok,,let's take this one step at a time...Menu..that's first...try to make as much as you can that can be served at both functions, example, deviled eggs, dressing, shrimp cocktails,,etc.. What I'm saying is to set your menu up for this. If you can do this, then you can make most things all at once, and set a portion aside for the lunch the next day.
When preparing your main course (meat) for the dinner, also take the time to prep your main course for the lunch, and have it all the way ready to cook in advance.

Ok,,right now, it is late at night, and I'm extremely give out. If you will email me and let me know where you are at in your planning stage and I'll see what advice I can further give you to help out. The two menu's will be the key factor for you.

OK,,now that I have gotten some sleep, let's see what other advice I can give you to help. Here are some tips on how to 'save' your immediate family from bordom. Let's see you cooked mashed potatoes. Ok,,day one, serve them plain and regular, now on day two add some cheese or garlic and change up the 'normal' flavor'. If you serve a salad,,change up one ingredient and the dressing to change it...like add sliced apples or oranges, or pecans, and that will change the taste for you. Just add one or two ingredients to a dish that will be served two days in a roll, and it will change it enough to 'save' you and your immediate family.
On desert,,,say you made a chocolate cake.. ok,,serve as normal on day one, and on day two make a chocolate sauce to go on each slice.
I really can't offer any more help without knowing what you are planning on serving. If you need help later on, please feel free to email me. I hope these simple ideas have provided you some things to consider. Happy Holidays and Good Luck on your dinners.
