For our semi formal dance the group decided the guy would cook dinner for the girls, need amazing dish to wow?!

Question: For our semi-formal dance it was decided that the guys would be responcible for cooking dinner for the girls. I wuld have been more than happy to just go eat out somewhere, but i guess thats not happening.
I am an 18 year old male, reasionably well hersed in the kitchen; can follow directions and understand most ideas about cooking. I am looking to prepair some dish and dessert that will just wow her and everyone else i the group. Each guy is just cooking for their own date. Time and money not really a factor (Excluding some rediculous ideas, but come on). I just need some killer ideas on how to seriously impress her and her friends. Thanks for any help. -Kev

If you want to seem like a good cook try chicken piccata. Take boneless chicken breasts and dip them in milk then in flour so they are covered in flour. In a pan melt 2 tbl spoons butter and a drizzle of olive oil. Brown the chicken over medium to low heat (watch the butter.. if it smokes or turns brown turn down the heat. Cook chicken 2-3 minutes on each side. after chicken cutlets are browned put them in another pan with a metal handle or use a small baking pan to put them on and place the cutlets in a 350 oven for 15-20 min depending on how thick.. (make an extra cutlet to cut into to test if your new at cooking no pink juices an its done!). Hopefully you still have all the browned butter in the pan you fried the chicken in if not just melt a whole stick if so add like 3/4 of a stick in the brown butter. bring it to low heat and once sizzling add1/4 cup white wine and juice of two limes. If you cant use wine you can use chicken broth and a pinch of garlic. If you use the broth stir 1 tsp of flour into it befor you add it to your sauce. DONT get the sauce too hot it will burn.. just a low simmer until it starts to get thick and you cant smell the alcohol in the wine any more. You can add a few cappers to the sauce at the very end to add color and saltiness. season with salt and pepeer and your sauce is ready. A simple 2 minute pre packaged wild rice is a good side and for vegy take some baby carrots and boil them for six minutes and then add cut up broccoli to water and cook two more minutes. drain and simple drizzle with a little lemon juice and olive oil. Put rice veggies and cutlet on each plate and maybe a store bought Hawain roll . Put like a tablespoon or two of the sauce over the chicken cutlet. Dessert you should buy.. go with cheese cake or something but buy a nice fruit syrup... likea rasberry reduction..or candied walnuts or something to garnish the slices with and plate them before you sit with garnishes and all and leave them refrigerated until your ready to serve and hide the box. Total time is like 35 minutes but if you new like an hour

chicken fillets marinated in garlic butter, baked then arranged over a garden salad.

do a betty crocker hot fudge cake for dessert in cupcake shapes, in like a cupcape baker, you should put them in the overn when you all start dinner, and theyll be done in time for dessert, when they are done individually plate them, a scoop of vanilla, and hot fudge on top, with some caramel sauce also if wante, thats the most romantic desert ever!!
dinner, do raviolli, u can buy prebought liek those little squares...raviolli, my bad, and then add sauce, or look for a recipe on the back of the package, that would be my perfect dinner.

Jambalaya (a New Orleans tradition) is pretty easy to cook, no messy sauces to worry about(semi formal dresses), and has an interesting history. You could find an easy recipie on the internet.

I would do spagetti and meat balls. With a side of salad and garlic bread. And some nice wine. Then you will have all the wowing you could get. If you can't do wine then do some . bubbling champagne. Well after that you are good to go. Oh ya and for dessert go to the baker and get some cheese cake. Wel their you go. I hoped I help some.

easy to cook a Cornish hen with wild rice stuffing...[you can buy a package of wild rice] and cook with a little sausage and garlic [minced] saute some mushrooms and snow pods, baby corn [canned] in some minced garlic and butter.. at the grocery store, find in the frozen food section some frozen cheesecake. she will love it .........have fun
cook the wild rice and sausage and then stuff the hen and bake it at 350 for about a hour....

I think this is a really charming idea.

How about something like this:

Appetizer: Shrimp Seviche
Main course: Grilled steaks (preferably a filet mignon - small but very impressive)
Side: Grilled Asparagus with shaved parmesan
Side: I think potatoes au gratin (dauphinouse) or a rice pilaf is nice. Or you could skip the starch and do a nice green salad.
Dessert: Definitely chocate dipped strawberries - beautiful to look at, wonderful to taste but not heavy or too filling.
