Cooking stuffed peppers, not sure whether to put instant rice in plain or cook it first..?!

Question: I'm doing the mix with raw turkey burger, onions, and instant brown rice.. does the rice cook while cooking in the peppers or do you cook it first? Thanks.

I always cook it first,if you don't the rice won't get done. I've learned from experience!! Also the instant rice is not as good. I cook a lot af rice and "Uncle Ben's" is best!!

i would use regular rice and cook it halfway..... the instant rice will just turn to mush...i made that mistake once!!! sounds good!!!

I usually brown the turkey or whatever meat, add the onions, cook the rice. Then mix it all together before stuffing the peppers. You can top with a little tomato sauce if you like.

Hi, You need to cook the rice first....and another handy tip is ... Its always good to fry onions first when adding to anything, then you will not have raw onions in the middle of what you are cooking..Hope this helps..Reg

Yes, the rice should be cooked first. And don't forget to brown the turkey meat along with the onions before stuffing.

First of all I use Basmati rice and cook up an amount necessary. I also cook up the whole stuffing ingredients and mix in the rice. The recipe I'm sending is very close to what I do, except as I said I cook the stuffing first and then put it in the peppers and continue as the recipe suggests
INGREDIENTS
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup uncooked long grain white rice
1 cup water
6 green bell peppers
2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Place the rice and water in a saucepan, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and cook 20 minutes. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the beef until evenly browned.
Remove and discard the tops, seeds, and membranes of the bell peppers. Arrange peppers in a baking dish with the hollowed sides facing upward. (Slice the bottoms of the peppers if necessary so that they will stand upright.)
In a bowl, mix the browned beef, cooked rice, 1 can tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Spoon an equal amount of the mixture into each hollowed pepper. Mix the remaining tomato sauce and Italian seasoning in a bowl, and pour over the stuffed peppers. I cover with foil.
Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven or until tender.

we made them a very few times..
But I remember the stuffing had some red color to it ...
I later discovered it was pimentos.
I never remember turkey burger ...!
