I am having problems with my bean soup?!
Lastly any tips on making it very flavor full. All I have in it at the moment is ham and beans. So?
Answers: I followed the directions but it is not working. I let the beans soak for 8 hours, brought them to a boil and let them cook on a low setting for a couple hours. Though it has tons of water still.

are you cooking with the lid on or off... try with the lid off so the water will evaporate..... up the temperature of the heat but watch it..... try to take some of the beans out and run it through a food processor or blender..... you can put some chicken bouillon and onions in there for more flavor!!!
or you can make a roo of flour and water and pur it in while stirring!!!!
I always put onion in mine. If your beans are soft, then they are done, if not then they need to keep cooking until they get soft. We have german style mustard here, (brown mustard) and I also add this to each bowl, because it can be very spicy, so i add according to taste.
Let it cook some more to reduce it and add in potatoes, carrots, celery and onions. The potatoes with also help thicken it up. Serve it with some hot corn bread - yummm.
just ladle out some of the liquid...scoop out one cup of the beans and mash like with a potato masher...pour back into soup.this will thicken it..now add salt, pepper, garlic, and if u have it..just 2 drops of liquid smoke..i also add 1/4 cup chopped onion , 1/4 cup carrots, and 1/4 cup chopped celery to mine..in a pan add two table spoons of olive or veg oil..turn heat on med and add chopped veggies..cook until celery and onion are translucent..add to beans...i eat with corn bread on the side...good luck.
1 (16 ounce) bag 15 bean soup mix, seasoning packet discarded
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
1 teaspoon garlic powder
fresh ground black pepper
1 medium ham bone
1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes
2 cups cooked ham, cubed
Put the beans in a big pot, cover with lots of cold water, and soak over night.
The next day, pour the water off, and cover the beans with fresh cold water.
Add the dried onion, garlic powder, and pepper, and bring to a boil. Back the heat off and simmer for 1 to 2 hours.
Add the ham bone to the pot, and simmer for another 1 to 2 hours.
Add the can of tomatoes including their juice, and the ham pieces. Simmer for another 30 minutes.
At this point you may want to mash the beans with a potato masher if it needs to be thickened some.

Ham and Bean Soup
2 C. bean mixture (see recipe on right)
3 to 4 lbs. smoked ham hocks or 1 ham (3 to 4 pounds)
3 quarts water
1 lb. canned diced tomatoes
1 large onion, diced
1 large green bell pepper, cored and chopped
1 C. chopped celery
1 clove garlic, minced
1 T. lemon juice
1 T. sugar
2 T. Worcestershire sauce
In large soup kettle, combine 2 cups bean mixture, ham hocks or ham and water. Bring to boil and boil gently about 2 hours. Add remaining ingredients and simmer another 2 hours. Remove ham hocks or ham, cut off meat and return meat to pot.
Makes 12 to 16 servings.
The easy method is, Run the beans under hot water when you take them out of bag! then what I do is, I put them in pot and let them boil for a few minutes. Then rinse in warm water(in a strainer) Then back on stove with fresh water, bring to boil on high heat. Then turn heat down to medium and add your ingredeints. I put bacon or hamhocks, 1 whole onion, chopped, 1 bell pepper, chopped, salt, pepper, garlic (either powder or 1 or 2 cloves ) If it's Pinto Beans you're cooking then i add a little" Pinto Bean" spice or a little "Chili Powder" You can put pretty much what you like in them. You need to test the bean. Also, they need to simmer, not just soak in hot water. Here are some of the things I put in beans to give them more flavor.

polish sausage or linquica or Spanish (not Mexican) chorizo
