I need a recipe for Shoofly pie?!


Question: Aunt Linda's SHOO-FLY-PIE
In a bowl you put a half cup of shortening
you then add 1 and a half cup of flour
and 1 cup brown sugar. mix well with fork
this is the crumb mix

For the filling mix in a seperate bowl :
3/4th teaspoon of baking soda
an 8th of a teaspoon each of nutmeg,ginger,
cinnamon and cloves.
1/4 th teaspoon of salt
3/4th cup molasses
3/4th cup of hot water
combined well with a spoon

1 unbaked 9inch pie shell

Crumb Topping:
1 C flour
1/2 C light brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/3 C butter

Liquid Bottom
1 C boiling water
1/2 C light molasses
1/2 C dark corn syrup
1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg, beaten

whipped cream for topping

1/2 c. molasses
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. shortening
1/2 c. hot water
1 unbaked pie shell

Mix all ingredients well and pour into pie shell and bake in 450 degree oven for 15 minutes. Reduce to 350 degrees until done (when a knife comes out clean).
