Do you cook dry beans in the same water you soak them in?!

Question: Or do you strain them and then cook them in fresh water?
Thank you for your help!

Thank you for your help!

i strain mine then cook them for around 20 min and repeat then cook them for 3 hours or so

definitely wash them and put into fresh water

You strain them and rinse them really good then you add fresh water to the pot and cook them. They are best when cooked on low and cooked all day, but make sure you keep adding water or they will dry out!

no you same water you soak

I soak them overnite in a little baking soda, its suposed to help eliminate some of the "gas" you get from beans, I throw out any discolored looking beans, & any other stuff that dosent look good floating around in there, rinse the beans real good & cook them in fresh water, on a low flame, adding more water as needed,
I sometimes add a hunk of salt pork to the pot, as I'm cooking them. It gives them a good flavor.

I always use fresh water

Cook them in fresh water.

Nutritional considerations make cooking beans in the water they are soaked in . a logical option, however most people i know ,do as i do,strain, rinse & cook in fresh water ,cannot give a reason but that is how it goes.

soak, drain, and use fresh water ........ but I hear some ppl use the same water

I soak and drain twice. It helps with the 'gas' problem.
