About Belgium fries sauce....?!
Answers: i ordered a couple of bottle of Frite sauce but they havent arrived and i'm making belgium fries tonite for st. nicholas day. anyone know a homemade recipe for frite sauce?
I lived in the region for 2 years while serving with the US Army and all they used was manonaise. In nearby Netherlands they used manonaise and sometimes a mild curry sauce.
Well, Dan is obviously ignorant about Belgian, or Dutch, "frietjes" and the sauce they use for them.
Go to http://www.foodiesite.com/recipes/1999-0... for the Belgian variety. As for the Dutch variety, they're a national heritage and well-kept secret.
However in case you live in the U.S. or Canada, there's a lot of online shops selling Dutch products and will ship the stuff to you anywhere.
Just type "dutch products" into your browser.
This is the recipe for mayonaise:
- 1 yoke of egg
- 1/4 liters of oil
- 2 spoons of vinegar
- pepper and salt
- mustard
Mix yoke of egg, pepper, salt and mustard in a bowl. Add a spoon of vinegar. Slowly add oil while always stirring in the same direction. If the sauce is getting to thick, add some more vinegar, and then some more oil.
It is important to gradually add the oil and stir in the same direction to thicken the sauce.
