How can i make regular walnuts taste like black walnuts?!

Question: I make a black walnut pound cake and use regular walnuts. I just use black walnut flavoring instead of vanilla. You can't tell the difference. I also chop the nuts rather small.

you can't

Try toasting them lightly under the oven broiler, but watch them closely; they burn quickly!

Dude.. that's so racist!

A nice big Sharpie?

Do not believe that would be possible.

I'm not sure that you can make them taste like black walnuts....black walnuts have a much stronger taste to them that makes them unique from the regular walnuts you can pick up in bags at the store...

roasting them in the oven might bring out a different flavor but I'm not quite sure it would equal the taste of the black walnuts

You cannot make regular walnuts taste like black walnuts. They are two completely different kinds of nut, just as peaches are different from nectarines.

I'm sure that if are making a recipe that calls for black walnuts and you don't have any, you can substitute regular ones and it won't make much difference. I substitute different nuts in all kinds of recipes. You could probably use pecans too.
