Icing with no confectioner's sugar?!
Answers: Are there any recipes that don't use confectioner's sugar? I just made cutout Christmas cookies, but when I looked in the pantry, there was no confectioner's sugar! What should I do? Does anyone have any recipes that don't need confectioner's sugar? Thanks in advance! :) ?
This is an icing recipe without confectioner's sugar:
Ingredients:
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup milk
6 heaping tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 tablespoon cocoa if you want chocolate icing
Directions:
Cook milk and flour until very thick (so thick you can't stir), then COOL.
Cream butter, sugar and cocoa (if using cocoa) until very creamy. Add milk and flour mixture and vanilla. Beat until thick and creamy (about 4 or 5 minutes).
This is an easy way to make icing without confectioners sugar.
I hope I helped. ;-)

Answer to your 2nd question-Vanilla is the same as vanilla extract. ;-) Hope you like the recipe!
you can make a butter creme frosting with butter and sugar, plus flavorings.
Also, you can try, but not sure how effective it is is to try pulverizing granulated sugar in a blender or a coffee grinder.
use jelly or jam, and make them into jam cookie sandwiches. or even ice cream works.
try sweet cream cheese, or mix honey and peanut butter.
other than that..........good luck.
