It is indeed healthy and tasty. Especially with some yummy chicken (grilled not fried) on top.
Salad is good for you, all you need is letuce, tomatoes, cucumbers(if you like them) and a few other veggies that you like if you want and then you mix them all together and then the dressing is whats gonna make it unhealthy cuz like ranch is full of fat i usr honeymustard dressing or i will use lemon or lime juice and a little salt to give it flavor and thats actually really healthy.
I love chick pea salad.
Some cooked and cooled chick peas
Some diced red onions
Some diced fresh tomatoes
Some chopped cilantro
(Maybe some sweet corn too if you want. Or cucumber if you prefer.)
Dress it all in lemon juice with some salt and pepper, let it sit in the fridge for 20 minutes before you eat it.
If you don't like cilantro, leave it out but use some dried oregano with the lemon juice dressing.
Salad is meant to be tasty and healthy, but it is easy to make it not so nutritious. A healthy salad should consist of fresh veggies, maybe a little protein such as grilled chicken/hard boiled egg/light cheese, and a little bit of light dressing or something else light for a little added flavor. Although croutons, fried chicken, full fat dressings, full fat cheeses, bacon bits, etc make the salad taste good, they easily cancel out whatever health benefits the salad may contain.
There are many different salads now though. There is pasta salad, fruit salad, chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, and more along with the basic lettuce salad. Chicken/tuna/egg salads normally contain loads of fat because they are made with mayo which is far from healthy no matter what kind you may choose to use.
