Veggies and plain noodles..how much oil do you add to them?!


Question: I have veggies and plain cooked noodles...I want to add a bit of oil to taste. How much oil do you add? It's 2 cups of veggies...and 2 cups of noodles when cooked. I don' t want my food to be so oilly it becomes nasty...just to taste. Also what's the best oil to use?

If using oil, just enough to coat the pan would suffice(general rule would be 2tsp for total 2 cups of veggies&noodles). This is merely cooking the noodles though, not infusing flavour. Depending on what kind of food you're trying to prepare, it may be different; if you want something with an asian flair, adding sesame oil gives it the flavour normal cooking oil can't give. I wouldn't really suggest olive oil in noodles, they go best with pasta. A general tip for you, the main two oils that are readily available and add flavour are olive and sesame oil. These are the most practical to use and are easy to find. If you must use cooking oil, you cannot say it is to add flavour though as it does not have any distinct aromas or flavour. You can add spices to "spice(pardon the pun)" up food. Pepper is a great choice, others will depend on your taste. Salt is adding the main taste of a dish and will make it palatable(the spices are only enhancing the flavour). If you feel a bit adventurous, try adding some chicken/beef bouillon powder when you stir-fry the noodles and veggies instead of salt. You might be pleasantly surprised.

I use 2 to 3 tbsp. of oil to 2 cups of veggies + 2 cups of noodles.
You can use either Canola oil or Olive oil.

3 to 4 spoons of canola or olive oil

I would say 2 tablespoons of olive oil - saute the veggies first then toss the pasta in.

Use JUST enough to completely coat the pan or wok you're using- & keep stirring at medium-high heat until your veggies are cooked to YOUR taste (some people like their Vegetables cooked aLOT more- than others). I use corn oil; but ANY good vegetable oil is fine. Enjoy! :)

i would use butter or margarine instead of oil...add some garlic powder for taste

Use olive oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, sea salt, and pepper. It will jazz up the veggies a bit and is still healthy. Use enought oil to coat the pan in a very-thin layer.

Use olive oil. Better yet, add some crushed garlic and a few pepper flakes.

I recommend putting about 2 tbs of oive oil in a sautee pan, heating it (with the garlic and pepper flakes if using). Toss in the veggies and noodles that you've already heated in the microwave, and stir them around until they are lightly coated.

Doing it that way will help dtribute the oil in a light coating. If it seems to dry, just drizzle in a little more olive oil and toss it around.
