How to make a roast in crock pot?!
Answers: I want to make a rump roast in the crock pot with potatos and carrots and i don't know where to start (other than to get that stuff at the store lol)
Put your roast along with about 1/4 broth and with whatever seasonings you want in the crock pot and cook on high for about 4 hours. Then toss in your carrots and cook for a additional 1 hour, then toss in the potatoes and cook for 2 to 3 hours longer on low. Remove all from pot and pour up juice. Add 2 tablespoons cornstarch to 1/4 cup water, mix until smooth and then slowly add to juice and let simmer until thicken. Now you have roast, potatoes, carrots and gravy. Enjoy.
Once you get the roast, you can brown it in a pot using butter or olive oil. Then put the roast in the crock pot with enough water to cover it and cook it until it is tender. I usually don't have time in the morning, so I put the roast in the night before on low. I also drop in a small clove of garlic. About 2 hours before you're going to serve the meal, drop the cut up veggies into the broth, cover, and turn the heat up to high.
This kind of roast is really easy to do. Sometimes I don't even brown the meat before I put it into the crock pot. It just depends on what you have time and preference to do.
Season the meat with salt and pepper. Put a little olive oil in a hot pan and brown the meat. Put it in the crockpot add about 3 or 4 cups of beef stock and cook it on high for about an hour. Then put in your potatoes, celery, carrots, onions, garlic and herbs (Bouquet garni is nice). Turn it down to low and cook for about 6 hours.
I love to use my crock pot, heres what I do for, a pot roast.
I brown the roast in a frying pan so its brown on all sides.
Put it into the crock pot with a can of beef broth, add your veges,( you can add chunks of potatoes too,) salt & pepper it to taste & let it cook on high for about 5 hrs, then turn it down to low & let it cook an additional 3/4 hrs ( or cook it on high til the meat is tender. remove meat & veges, to platter ( keep warm) add a tbsp, of corn starch to gravey to thicken it & enjoy!!
1 chuck roast
2 c. water
1 pkg. onion soup mix
1 pkg. beef gravy mix
Cook in crockpot on slow all day. (If you like, you can add potatoes and carrots or noodles).

First thing is to sear the meat on high in a stain steel pan just to lock in the juices, then put all ingredients in crock pot,season to taste, cover with water or beef/veg. stock, let cook slow and low until tender. GOOD EATS
Put your vegetables on the bottom, use carrots(peeled and, cut) Use an onion quarter it. Use 1 or 2 cloves of garlic minced. Peel and Quarter your potatoes, then put your meat on top of veg, use 1 or 2cans of beef broth, salt and pepper to taste, cook on low for about 10 hours or on high for about 6 or 7 hours. Use package gravy to mix with your broth after cooking time is done and pour gravy over veg and meat when you serve it.
