Smoked mackerel?!


Question: Can someone give me a good, easy recipie for smoked mackerel pate or similar.
I love Smoked makeral but want to find other uses for it other than just putting it on salad.

Smoked mackerel pate
Serves 4-6



Preparation time over 2 hours

Cooking time no cooking required






Ingredients
2 smoked mackerel, skinned and boned
125g/4oz cottage cheese
150g/5oz soured cream
juice of half a lemon, or more
grated nutmeg
black pepper and salt
cayenne
2 lemons cut into wedges



Method
1. Liquidise all the ingredients. Season to taste with pepper, nutmeg and salt.
2. Put into individual dishes or one large one. Cover with clingfilm and chill for two hours
3. Sprinkle with a little cayenne and serve with lemon wedges.

i mix mine up with mayonnaise i like very strong smoked it goes well in sandwiches.

I haven't eaten smoked mackerel in years! I used to love it hot with a little horseradish or with poached egg for breakfast. I'd forgotten about this wonderful fish I shall have to try and find it here in Spain and renew my aquaintance with it. Sorry I don't have a recipe for pate.

Smoked Mackerel Pate

2 plain fillets smoked mackerel
1 (250 g) container Philadelphia Cream cheese or 1 soft cream cheese
2 tablespoons double cream
2 tablespoons lemon juice
salt
cayenne pepper
nutmeg
2 teaspoons horseradish sauce
1 tablespoon finely grated onions



remove skins from mackerel fillets.
put ingredients in a blender and whizz until the desired consistency is reached (should be fairly smooth, but with some thickness).
Add Lemon Juice or cream to taste as desired.

mix it with creme cheese or creme fresh an make a moose and serve it with salad

Take off skin and mix with tinned chopped tomato and a some seasoning, chill for a couple of hours and you will have a nice pate
