Im cooking lental stew in a crockpot. Is it ok to cook over night, at low setting?!

Question: I have never heard of a crockpot catching fire. I have used mine constantly, preparing food and turning it on just before I have left home for the day, returning home to a good, hot meal.

I would think a crockpot would work perfectly overnight. Why not? It only makes sense that you make sure your smoke alarms are in good shape, because anything...a furnace, an appliance left plugged in, a burning ash, an exposed wire...anything can cause a fire. But you should be able to use your crockpot safely, left on a Low Setting.

i think you should just turn it off just in case a fire may start

Yes.

your lentils might become really soft and soggy. I would suggest keeping it in the fridge overnight and heat again the next day.

yes it is okay.

It owuld probably be okay, you wouldn't burn it or anything, but it would be a fire hazard.

it'll be fine

that's what crock pots are for---long, slow cooking.

I think it would be safe, but lentils take less cooking time than dried beans.
