It does matter what steak cut you use – tougher, more membranous cuts from the shoulder, leg, and butt—which are sometimes collectively referred to as "chuck" are best. As they simmer over low heat, the tough connective tissue becomes tender and offers great flavor to the stew. The bonus is that these cuts are inexpensive.

Better quality or more tender cuts can disintegrate with slow cooking. The flavor will be fine, but the texture is not as pleasing, plus you're spending more money than you need to.

Yes, that should work out fine.

I use london broil steak for my beef stew. Thanks for sharing your recipe.... Sounds so delish!

I use London broil or a thick cut of top round.

yes....steak will be fine....but you could also add a half a bottle of beer to the stew...makes is richer and also sprinkle some cumin in. If I were you I would also put meat tenderizer on the steak.......good luck.......

the only drawback would be the fact that stew meat has some "fat" on it which adds so much to the flavor....

I did not read you recipe..
but Please LOOK at the price first.
stew meat in my city is over $4.00lb 4.69
when I confronted my butcher he shruges " I have to spend time cutting it small" INSANE profit monger

since you are doing stew IT matters NOT what cut you use
BUY roasts and slice into what you want and freeze..
most family size portions often get reduced in price 3lb+
into the $2.00 range..

I would want to use a inexpensive steak for cooking a stew. Perhaps a round steak, or a steak that is tough without slow cooking. Recipe sounds delicious. I would even substitute beef sausage as well.
