Put them in a cookie jar with a lid. Tuck a piece of bread up in the lid. With doing this, they are guaranteed to stay soft until the last cookie is gone!

PS: Make sure the bread doesn't touch the cookies, otherwise they will literally get TOO soft (almost soggy)!

When my husband was "out to sea", I packed the cookies in pop-corn to keep them soft and fresh.
Even though the pop-corn became stale, the cookies were fine.
Since oven temps vary, try baking for a shorter time period.

hi i do this when i put them in a containers i put 2 slices of bread in it it keeps them moist . I've done it for years .try it then let me know what you think OK .later

I never have this problem. Is your oven cooking hotter than you think? Have you tried using a shorter cooking time? Like the precut cookies I always cook for less amount of time. In my oven its about 3-5 mins less.

With the kind that you ball yourself, we make huge cookies, so cook time ends up being a few mins longer.

Just play with what your doing a couple times, and learn your oven.
