What do you look for when reading food labels?!

Question: Whats good? Bad?

Answers: Whats good? Bad?

Sugar breakdown
Fat percentage and saturated/unsaturated or hydrogenated
Level of sodium

Good and bad depend on the food you are selecting and is only valid when compared against other similar products. If you don't expect sugar in a product but see that it has lots of it then that's bad.

You want to minimize trans fats, hydrogenated fats and saturated fats.

Your daily sodium intake should be less than 2400 mg, so you would need to calculate the impact based upon serving size

Artificial colors or flavors
High sugar,carb or fat numbers

All of the above are very bad.

Calories per serving, serving size, fat per serving, sodium and fiber.
Low calorie, low fat, low sodium, high fiber is ideal-sometimes it's a trade off.

The first thing I look at is cholesterol since I have gallbladder disease. Then I look at the total fat and how many fat calories there are. The next thing to look at is sodium. I try to stay away from corn syrup, etc. as well.

i look at the calories and the sodium. i try not to eat too much fatty foods. i try to eat a lot of fruits and veges. instead of chips, cookies, and cakes.

How many carbohydrates are inside, servings, and what preservatives were added.
