Did I mess up my Christmas Cookies?!

Question: I just realized that I bought self rising flour for my cookies after I have the dough mixed up and chilling in the refridgerator. Will this change the taste or texture of my cookies?

Well, they are going to be puffy! Having done this before, and assuming you don't want to start over, just maybe reduce the oven temp, cook them slower and longer. Get them nice and crisp. Watch them closely.

they r just going to be "fluffier"

Know something? they are going to be just great. It's like you planned it that way & keep mum.........when people are eating cookies they are usually having a great time, and children will eat anything as long as it looks like a cookie. Only flour I ever used in the UK was self rising but now that I'm in Canada and use all purpose flour I find I have to add baking soda and/or baking powder sometimes both. With self rising flour, it's all there!
Won't change the taste but may change the texture as maybe you added more baking soda and/or baking powder and make them raise a little higher. Won't hurt the cookie an bit.

You may just have invented a new recipe...and that what cooks in the kitchen do....usually accidents...just try to remember how you did it if you want to do it again. Write it down.

Keep that flour and use it for your next batch of cookies too. I just made my first batch of Christmas cookies with self-rising flour. No baking soda, powder, or salt to add. They were great!

their going to be bigger
