What are candied yams?!
Answers: i have relatives over visiting from the USA and the one thing they kept talking about was the candied yams they were used to getting during thanks giving, i'm a bit stuck i know it's no longer thanks giving but i'd still like to know what is a yam. i looked it up and only got recipies i can't cook it if i can't identify a yam.
A yam is a long curvy potatoe. The skin is sometimes brown or a dark orange. You can usually identify them because they aer labeled 'sweet potatoes' and the come in a bag. But sometimes they aren't curvy.
The yams are boiled (cut in peeled, cut in circles, boiled, not strained). Then the the starchy water is left in the pot to make a syrup. You add cinnamon, nutmeg, and a little sugar, maybe a little brown sugar. You let that boil and bubble until the syrup is thickened. Add the yams and stir in. Pour into a baking dish. Sprinkle pecans over it. Then add sprinkle plenty of marshmallows over it. Put in the oven at 375. Watch for the marshmallows to get brown. Then, it's done! Enjoy!

Yams are a variety of Sweet Potato. They are a orangy color root vegetable.
Candied means that they were baked or boiled, mashed or cut into small pieces, brown sugar and marshmallows and sometimes nuts are added.
A yam is a sweet potato. First bake the sweet potatoes and peel them. Then arrange them in a shallow baking dish and pour some maple syryp on them. Bake in the oven at about 350 until the syrup becomes thick.
pretty much just cooked yams (kind of like a potato but long and curvy) with marshmallows and carmel on top... they are pretty good.
