Does anybody have a recipe for fideo? I remember having my fideo with meat...not sure what kind of meat.?!
Answers: I prefer a "family recipe" rather than an "online recipe" thanks =)
INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 (8 ounce) package fideo pasta
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 1/2 cups water
DIRECTIONS
Heat oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the fideo, and fry until browned. Pour in half of the can of tomato sauce, and 1 cup of the water. Season with cumin, garlic salt and chili powder, and stir to blend. Bring to a boil, and cook until the liquid has almost evaporated.
Stir in the remaining tomato sauce and water. Cover, and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, or until the fideo is tender, and the sauce has thickened.
Use Whatever Meat You Would Prefer
OMG,I love Fideo!! It is a Peasant food of sorts,a staple,or something you feed children starting on solid food, but I call it the greatest Comfort food of all! It's also a great way to get through a time where your food budget is low.I don't know anyone who doesn't like Fideo,we like it on the juicy side, ate in a bowl, steaming hot.I don't have a lot of time to write down the recipe,by for all who are interested, please email me directly at Anaheimmom@aol.com Gloria Taffolla
